Notary Signing Agent
Wonder how you prove your identity to a notary? Proof of identity is typically established using a valid drivers license, California ID or passport. Credible witnesses can be used in the rare case that a valid form of identification can't be supplied.
A Notary Signing Agent is a notary public who signs loan documents. Throughout the years notaries have helped escrow and loan officers to sign their clients loan packages. Recently there has been a tend in educating the notaries about these packages further by offering classes. (Also this is a way for Notary associations to make money through classes and selling supplies.) It is up to the notary to decide if formal education is needed to perform loan signings.
Many companies hire notaries to do loan signings. NOTARIES BE CAREFUL who you do business with, make sure you get paid. I know I was personally ripped off by Ameriquest and so were other fellow notaries. Ask other notaries who they do business with.
Notary Publics' are regulated by the Secretary of State for each
individual state. Therefore, a notary may only do notaries
physically in the
state in which they are licensed.
To find a notary that did a past notarization, look at the SEAL
(stamp) on the document. Contact the county recorder in the state
of the county that is on the seal.
