Orange County is a southern county in California. The 2008 prediction of census has the population to be around 3,121,251 which will move it to the third populous county in the state behind Los Angeles County and San Diego County to make it the 5th largest populated county in the United States. There are a total of 34 incorporated cities in the county, the oldest being Anaheim, and the newest happening only 7 years ago in 2001, Aliso Viejo. With a total land area of only 948 square miles, Orange County is the smallest one in Southern California. Bordering counties are: San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Los Angeles County, and San Diego County. The other border is accounted for by the Pacific Ocean. The popular mountain range, the Santa Ana Mountains run through the county. The city of Laguna Beach has the county’s only natural lakes, known as Laguna Lakes. There are still several unincorporated communities and master planned communities in the county, such as: Lemon Heights, Emerald Bay, Rossmoor, Orange Park Acres, Tustin Foothills and Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, and Rancho Santa Margarita. The ethnic composition of the population is 64% white, 46% non-Hispanic, 16.05% Asian, .33% Pacific Islander, 1.72% African American, 0.38% Native American, 14.32% from other races, and 2.44% from at least two, sometimes more races. Villa Park is the place with the highest median income with an average of $203,091 and Laguna Woods is the lowest with a median income of about $31,212. Cities with a population greater than 15,000 people were included in the list of median incomes.
