Anaheim, California is one of the 34 cities in Orange County California and has a population of 346,823, making it the 10th most populated place in the state. The city was founded by fifty German families in 1857, and by 1870 it became an incorporated part of Orange County and marks itself as the oldest city in the county. The name Anaheim comes from “Ana” for the nearby Santa Ana River, and “heim” from the German word meaning “home” or “a place like home.” It is home to Disneyland and the Resort that accompanies it; this alone is one of Anaheim’s largest tourist attractions and is responsible for many people flocking to the city year round.

Inside the City of Anaheim you will find the very wealthy master planned community known as Anaheim Hills, which is home to several famous sports icons and wealthy executives. The hybrid berry which is a cross between the raspberry and the Pacific Blackberry known as the Boysenberry was created by Walter Knott in the late 1920’s and named after Rudolph Boysen who served as the first Superintendent of Anaheim. The nearby sports park known as Boysen Park was also named after him. Anaheim is serviced with rail by two major railroads, the Union Pacific Railroad and the BNSF Railway and several services like Monorail and Amtrak are also available in Anaheim. Anaheim is one of the safest cities of its size in terms of crime rates, and relies very heavily on tourism to thrive.
