| Trabuco Canyon is a small unincorporated community in Rancho San Margarita in Orange County, California. It is in the Santa Ana Mountains, and part of it is in the Cleveland National Forest. In English the name Trabuco means, “blunderbuss” which is an old type of rifle. The specific weapon the Spanish Explorers who discovered the area named the community after has never been found. The Trabuco Canyon community spreads across three new towns: Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest, and Coto de Caza. One of the late former presidents of the United States, Richard M. Nixon had a favorite restaurant which is located in Trabuco, which is now a famous landmark in the area-- Trabuco Oaks Steak House, known not only for being Nixon’s favorite restaurant, but for having really good food. Trabuco Canyon lies next to subdivision housing of nearby cities such as Irvine, Lake Forest and Rancho Santa Margarita. This means that you are surrounded by winding roads and beautiful wilderness but you are also close to several big cities. You will find Tabuco Canyon at the base of Sattleback Moutain, and quickly see that is an upper class guarded and gated community. If you are considering relocating to the area you will find a wide assortment of homes in various architectural styles, and if you are interested in a custom built home there are also several vacant lots available for purchase for new construction. There is a place called Cook’s Corner that is an infamous biker’s bar, and well known with the residents. | |
