Stanton has been an on-again, off-again city. It incorporated in 1911, dis-incorporated in 1924 (so the residents could avoid paying for the roads and other infrastructure being built in the area) and was reborn in 1956, spurred by the post-World War II boom in California.

The "cemetery" has become the focus for a true fright fest every fall.
