People have been living in the site now occupied by Agoura Hills for at least 10,000 years, starting from, when the Chumash Native Americans ranged the hills looking for food. Although some of these original rockers have moved on to other pursuits, leaving a decline in the genre, the echos live on. You still can catch a show at the Canyon Club and see touring acts of the country's leading metal artists.

The Reyes Adobe Historical Site preserves some of the early history. Built in about 1850, it has been preserved and now is the repository for artifacts and documents that tell the story of the growth of Agoura Hills.
